This policy explains what Magic Day does with personal data: what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website and the enquiries made through it.

What we collect
When you enquire about a wedding or an event
Your name, email address, telephone number if you give one, and what you tell us about the celebration: the kind of help you want, the dates you have in mind, roughly how many guests, a budget range, and anything else you write.
When you write to us through Careers, Cooperation or Franchise
Your name and contact details, the organisation you represent or the role you are applying for, the country or territory concerned, and any file you attach — a CV, a brochure, a company profile.
When you join the waiting list for the wedding planner course
Your name and email address, which we use for one thing: telling you when the course opens.
Technical information collected with every submission
Your IP address, the approximate country, region, city and time zone it resolves to, the network it belongs to, your device type and browser, and how long the form was open before it was sent. We collect this to tell genuine enquiries from automated and fraudulent ones. It is not used to build a profile of you and it is not used for marketing.
When you become a client
Everything the work requires: contact details for you and, where you give them to us, for your guests and suppliers; travel and accommodation details; dietary and accessibility requirements; and payment information. We ask for guest data only where the event needs it, and we ask you to tell your guests that you have shared it.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, our lawful bases are:
- Steps before a contract, and the contract itself. Answering your enquiry, quoting for the work, and then planning and running the event.
- Legitimate interests. Replying to business, press and franchise enquiries; considering job applications; counting visits without cookies before you have made a cookie choice; and preventing fraud and abuse of our forms, which is why we record the technical information above. We have weighed these against your rights and consider them proportionate.
- Legal obligation. Keeping accounting and tax records.
- Consent. Only where we ask for it explicitly: permission to show photographs of your wedding, the course waiting list, and the analytics and advertising cookies described below. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Who else processes it
We use a small number of providers to run this site and answer enquiries. They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Cloudflare
- Hosting, content delivery, the database that stores enquiries, and Turnstile, which checks that a form was submitted by a person.
- Resend
- Delivers the notification email, including any file you attach.
- An email verification service
- Checks that the email address you type into our forms can receive mail, so a mistyped address is caught while you can still correct it. It receives the address alone.
If you accept cookies, the analytics and advertising providers named under Cookies below receive data from this site as well.
Some of these providers operate outside the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred, it is done under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
We also share what is necessary with the suppliers running your event — the venue, the caterer, the transport company — and with our professional advisers. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Confidentiality
Most of the weddings we plan are covered by a confidentiality agreement, and we treat every one as though it were. Nothing about a client appears in the press, on this site or on our social accounts unless that client has agreed to it first, in writing and in advance. Photographs are the clearest case: we hold very few we are free to publish, and that is why this site shows so little.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become work
- 24 months from the last contact, then deleted.
- Client records
- For the duration of the work and 10 years afterwards, which is the period French law requires for accounting records.
- Job applications
- 12 months, so we can come back to you when something opens. Ask us and we will delete yours sooner, or keep it longer.
- The course waiting list
- Until we have told you the course is open, then deleted. Ask us and we will take you off it sooner.
- Technical information
- Held with the enquiry it belongs to and deleted with it.
Your rights
You may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- delete it, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- restrict what we do with it, or object to our doing it at all;
- send it to you, or to somebody else, in a portable format;
- withdraw consent you have given, at any time.
Write to magic@magicdayevents.com. We answer within one month. There is no charge.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority, which in France is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL).
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. Enquiries are stored on infrastructure with access limited to the people who need it, and attachments are passed to the recipient's inbox rather than stored on this site. No system is perfect, and we will tell you and the supervisory authority if a breach occurs that is likely to affect you.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
