Castello di Rossino, Calolziocorte
The castle has stood above Calolziocorte since the thirteenth century, on a rise over the point where the Lecco arm of Lake Como narrows into the river Adda.
It is worth being plain about the geography. This is not a lakeside villa. Lecco is 16 minutes away, Varenna 42 and Como 48, and what the castle looks out over is the valley rather than the open water. What it offers in exchange is a complete, walled, thirteenth-century property for a fee that is a fifth of what the great houses on the shore ask.
Castello di Rossino Wedding Venue
The castle’s real asset is that it has a different space for every part of the day, which keeps a wedding moving instead of parking it in one room.
The panoramic terrace
Over the valley, where the welcome aperitif goes.
The secret garden
Walled and enclosed, and the setting for the ceremony.
The olive garden
Where dinner goes when it is outdoors, among the trees.
The internal courtyard
The heart of the castle, used for the cake and for the dancing, and the room the music moves into after ten.
The restored halls
Indoors, and the wet-weather answer for every one of the above.
The church
A few steps outside the gate, for couples who want a Catholic ceremony before the celebration.
Castello di Rossino Wedding Cost
A Castello di Rossino wedding starts from €100,000, and for optimal results we recommend budgeting €200,000 all-in for 70 to 90 guests.
The castle
A seven-hour event, with no VAT on the fee:
- Monday to Thursday: just under €6,000
- Friday and Sunday: just over €6,000
- Saturday: just under €7,000
Additional daytime hours are €400 each, which is the cheapest extension on this lake by a wide margin.
The catering
Around €160 plus VAT a head to start, through the caterers the castle works with. It is the lowest starting point of any venue we hold on Lake Como, and the difference against the lakeside houses is not small: at ninety guests it is tens of thousands.
The coordination
€800 for on-site coordination on the day. The castle requires it alongside an external planner rather than instead of one, so it is an addition to your planning rather than a substitute for it.
What sits outside it
Furniture, lighting and everything that makes a room, because the fee buys the spaces alone. Flowers and the audio system come through the castle’s own suppliers. The glasshouse in the photographs is not included and is brought in through specialists when the guest list goes past ninety.
The Tower Suite for the couple is €500 a night.

Ninety, and the Structure
The number to decide early is ninety.
Up to ninety the castle works as it is: terrace, garden, olive grove, courtyard and halls, with no structure needed and no structure cost. Above ninety, and up to 150, a glasshouse or a stretch tent has to be brought in by a specialist supplier, and that is a line the budget did not previously have.
It is not an argument against a hundred and twenty guests. It is an argument for knowing, before the invitations go out, that the hundred and twenty version of this wedding and the ninety version are different budgets rather than the same one with more covers.
Villagers, and Midnight
Music is permitted outdoors at entertainment volume until midnight, which is later than almost anywhere else we work on this lake, and for a venue at this price it is the most surprising thing in the file.
The condition attached is that from ten in the evening, anything louder than entertainment volume moves into the courtyard hall. In practice that gives a long outdoor evening with a band or a quartet, and a proper indoor party after ten, which is the structure most couples want anyway.
Villa, Church and Hotels
There is one bedroom at the castle, the Tower Suite, and it is kept for the couple.
Everything else is in hotels nearby, with shuttles arranged as needed. Lecco has the volume for a guest list of a hundred, and it is 16 minutes away.
For couples for whom the church matters, the one by the gate is the detail that decides it. On the lake proper, a Catholic ceremony usually means booking a parish church in a village and moving everyone twice. Here it is a walk.
Castello di Rossino Location
The castle is on the Via Castello at Calolziocorte in the province of Lecco, on the eastern side of the Adda valley.
Lecco is 16 minutes away, Bellagio 41 and Varenna 42.
Getting guests there
Bergamo Orio al Serio is 50 minutes by road, Linate 59 and Milan Malpensa an hour and 20. Milan itself is an hour and four.
Bergamo at fifty minutes is the shortest airport transfer of any venue on our Lake Como list, which for a guest list flying in on budget carriers is worth more than it looks.
Magic Day Insights
This is the one on our Lake Como list that a hundred-thousand-euro budget actually reaches.
Just under €6,000 for the castle, around €160 a head for dinner and no VAT on the hire puts the fixed cost of a ninety-guest wedding here below what some of the lakeside villas charge for the room alone. We always bring it into the conversation when a couple’s number is firm and their heart is set on Italy, because the alternative is usually a smaller wedding somewhere prettier.
The second thing is the geography, and it has to be said honestly. This is not a villa on the water, though the Lecco arm ends a few kilometres north of the gate: it is a castle above a river valley 48 minutes from Como, and the photographs guests take home will have stone and olive trees in them rather than open lake.
Couples who understand that in advance love it. Couples who arrive expecting Bellagio do not.
The third is the church. A Catholic ceremony a few steps from the gate removes the single most awkward piece of logistics in an Italian wedding, which is moving a hundred people between a parish church in one village and a venue in another, twice, in the heat. Here they walk.
Then there is midnight outdoors, which is genuinely unusual. Most of this lake stops the garden at half past ten or eleven. We would use the extra ninety minutes on the olive grove rather than on the dancing, because the courtyard takes the party anyway and the grove after dark is the thing people remember.

Common Questions
How much does a Castello di Rossino wedding cost?
A Castello di Rossino wedding starts from €100,000, and for optimal results we recommend budgeting €200,000 all-in. The castle itself is just under €6,000 from Monday to Thursday, just over €6,000 on a Friday or Sunday and just under €7,000 on a Saturday, for seven hours and with no VAT on top, which makes it the most contained venue fee on our Lake Como list. Catering starts around €160 plus VAT a head, and the furniture, flowers and lighting are separate again.
How many guests can attend a Castello di Rossino wedding?
Ninety guests move comfortably through the castle as it stands, and 150 once a glasshouse or a stretch tent is brought in. The castle does not supply that structure, so above ninety the budget gains a line it did not have. We would plan a Castello di Rossino wedding at 70 to 90.
Can we marry legally at Castello di Rossino?
A symbolic ceremony in the secret garden is what happens inside the walls, and a Catholic ceremony is possible in the church a few steps from the gate, which is unusual and worth knowing. Italy allows a civil ceremony only where the commune has authorised one, so the legal marriage is completed at home or at a town hall beforehand.
What is the music curfew at Castello di Rossino?
Midnight outdoors at entertainment volume, which is a later outdoor curfew than almost anywhere on the lake. From ten in the evening anything louder than that has to move into the courtyard hall, so the shape of the night is an outdoor evening that gets quieter at ten and an indoor one that gets louder.
Where do guests sleep for a Castello di Rossino wedding?
The castle has one bedroom, the Tower Suite, kept for the couple at €500 a night. Everyone else stays in hotels nearby with shuttles arranged, which at this price point is the expected arrangement rather than a compromise.
Which airport do guests fly into for Castello di Rossino?
Bergamo Orio al Serio, 50 minutes by road, which makes it the shortest airport transfer of any venue on our Lake Como list. Linate is 59 minutes and Malpensa an hour and 20. Lecco is 16 minutes away and Como 48.
When is the best time of year for a Castello di Rossino wedding?
June or September. The castle sits above the valley rather than on the water, so it holds the heat of a July afternoon longer than a lakeside terrace does, and the shoulder months are kinder to a ceremony in an enclosed garden.
