Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat wedding

The Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat was built in 1908 near the tip of the Cap, and over the century since it has received Somerset Maugham, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill and Aristotle Onassis. Pierre-Yves Rochon redesigned its public rooms in 2009, and Four Seasons has run it since 2015.

Seven hectares of gardens by the landscape architect Jean Mus run down from the palace to the sea, and at the bottom, on the rocks, is Club Dauphin, its pool club, reached by a funicular.

The Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat holds France’s Palace distinction, the highest the country gives a hotel, first awarded in 2011.

It holds three Michelin Keys, the Guide’s highest distinction for hotels.

Its restaurant, Le Cap, holds a Michelin star in the 2026 guide, under the executive chef Yoric Tièche. The cellar of more than twelve hundred labels is kept by Alessandro Nigro Imperiale, Gault & Millau’s sommelier of the year in 2023, and the wedding cakes come from the pastry chef Pierre-Jean Quinonero, Champion de France du Dessert.

A wedding here moves down the Cap as the evening goes: the ceremony in the gardens, the cocktail under the pines, and the dinner and the dancing at Club Dauphin by the sea.

Terraces under century-old pines, with a panoramic terrace over the sea, for a ceremony or a cocktail for 120, or a dinner for 70. The music there stays moderate and ends at eleven, which is why the evening moves down to Club Dauphin for the dancing.

The hotel’s pool club at the very tip of the Cap, with an infinity pool and the sea beyond it, taken privately from half past eight in the evening. It seats 120 for dinner beside the pool and becomes the dance floor after it, with the DJ until two in the morning.

The tables by the pool are open to the sky, and 120 is the ceiling the weather sets: in rain, the restaurant beside the pool takes the dinner.

With the whole hotel taken, the wedding has the Central Gardens, with a thirty-five-metre aisle through the French gardens towards the sea, for a ceremony of 200. The Panoramic Terraces beside them, under Aleppo pines, take a dinner of 200.

Also with the whole hotel, La Véranda restaurant and the Bar become the night club for the after-party, for 120. The Lobby, with its garden views, takes 120 for drinks or a ceremony, and together the three hold 200.

Villa Rose Pierre’s gardens take a ceremony or a cocktail for 120, and Villa Beauchamp’s 100, or a seated dinner for 50, with the villa booked for its minimum stay. The hotel suggests them for the family dinner before the wedding, or the brunch and pool party after it.

Seventy-four rooms and suites, and three villas, for up to 155 guests. The rooms run from the Superior Pinewood Rooms over the pine grove to the Palace Sea-View Rooms in the heritage building, and each Pool Terrace Suite has an infinity pool on its terrace.

There are five signature suites. The French Riviera Suite has a terrace over the sea, the Cap-Ferrat Suite an outdoor bath facing the horizon, and the Grand-Hôtel Suite a balcony behind its columns. The Panoramic Suite has a whirlpool on a terrace of ninety square metres, and the Penthouse is the whole top floor, with a pool of its own.

Villa Beauchamp has five bedrooms, Villa Rose Pierre four and Villa Clair Soleil two, and each villa has its own pool.

The Magic Day figures include a limited block of rooms, and the hotel gives a group rate from ten. We book them for the couple and the families, and the rest of the guests stay a few minutes away in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer or Nice.

The Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat stands near the southern tip of the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula, between Nice and Monaco, with its gardens running down to the sea. The port of Saint-Jean and Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild are six minutes away by road, Villefranche-sur-Mer twelve, Nice under half an hour and Monaco half an hour, on a clear road.

Nice Côte d’Azur is the airport, about 45 minutes by road, with direct flights from the United States and the United Kingdom.

Beaulieu-sur-Mer station, on the coast line between Nice and Monaco, is ten minutes away, and Nice Ville, on the TGV line from Paris, under half an hour.

The design, the flowers, the music beyond the DJ, the photography and the transfers sit outside the hotel’s figure, and the suppliers come from the hotel’s approved list.

A Magic Day wedding at the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat starts at €250,000 for a smaller wedding and lands near €500,000 for up to 120 guests, with a limited block of rooms in both.

The weather sets the ceiling at Club Dauphin. The tables by the pool are open to the sky, so the hotel holds Club Dauphin to 120, the number the restaurant beside it can take if the evening turns. We design the dinner for the pool and plan the restaurant as its rain plan from the start.

Schedule the evening downhill. The ceremony in the Volupté Gardens at half past five, the cocktail under the pines at seven, and Club Dauphin at half past eight, when it opens to the wedding. The music in the gardens ends at eleven and at the pool club at two, so the evening follows the Cap down to the sea.

Rooms are the scarce part. The figures include a limited block, and a group rate starts at ten rooms. We hold the block for the couple and the families as soon as the date is set, and a second hotel nearby for everyone else.

That is a planner’s work, but in a hotel whose spaces become the wedding’s one by one through the evening, the timing is most of it.
