Hôtel Belles Rives wedding

Belles Rives stands on the water at Juan-les-Pins, next to Port Gallice on the Cap d’Antibes side, with a jetty running out into the bay and its own beach below the terrace. The building was the Villa Saint-Louis, which Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald rented in 1925, and it became a hotel in 1929 under the family that still runs it.

It is Art Deco throughout and has been kept that way rather than restored into something else: mosaic floors, wrought iron, chrome, cubist frescoes and Ruhlmann armchairs.

The hotel has 43 rooms and suites, a piano bar named after Fitzgerald that opens onto the terrace, and La Passagère upstairs, which holds one Michelin star in the 2026 selection. What a wedding comes for, though, is the water. The ceremony looks straight at the Lérins islands and the Estérel, and dinner happens on the sand.

The hotel runs a wedding to a fixed timetable and uses three spaces in order.

It is the least improvised venue on this site, and that is the point of it.

The ceremony, from half past five until half past six, privatised for up to 90 guests and set with the hotel’s blue and white rattan chairs. Up to 60 guests it faces the sea; above 60 it turns to run parallel to the water, which is a real difference in the photographs.

The cocktail from half past six, dinner from half past seven and the dancing from half past ten, all on the sand under the Marquise. The included marquee seats 90, or 70 once a dance floor is in it.

Added to the ceremony terrace above 90 guests, and charged on top. It is also where a welcome drink goes the evening before.

A Hôtel Belles Rives wedding starts from €100,000 and lands near €150,000 all-in for 40 to 60 guests.

€210 a head, and it covers more of the evening than a per-head rate usually does: an hour of open bar with champagne, wine, beer and soft drinks plus four canapés, then a starter, a main course and the wedding cake, with a Provence wine package of half a bottle of wine, half a bottle of water and a coffee, and two sweet canapés alongside it.

The ceremony terrace is €3,000. The beach is not sold as a hire at all: the Quai and the Marquise are guaranteed from seven until half past twelve against a minimum revenue, which the hotel sets by the date, the confirmed number and the services taken, and a privatisation fee makes up any shortfall. For a May 2027 wedding it put that minimum at €20,000 of food and beverage with €10,000 of fixed rental on top.

Above 90 guests the included marquee is not enough and a 180 to 250 square metre structure has to be hired, from €25,000 before lighting and decoration, which roughly doubles the hotel’s side of the budget in one line. Between 70 and 90 a second small marquee is needed instead, at a fraction of that. A lifeguard is compulsory from 150 guests, and an hour past one in the morning carries a service supplement.

The flowers and the design, the photography, the DJ, the rooms, the transfers, and anything from the hotel’s list of extras: the boat arrival at the jetty, the fireworks over the water, the late breakfast.

Forty-three rooms and suites, Art Deco and mostly facing the water, with the wedding night spent in a Deluxe Sea View room. The Suite Zelda and the panoramic rooms are the ones with the full sweep of the bay; the rooms in the Annexe are quieter and set back.

This is a working hotel and not a buyout, so a block is negotiated rather than assumed.

That is easier here than almost anywhere else on the coast. Juan-les-Pins starts at the hotel gate and Antibes is five minutes, so guests at three price points can all be within walking distance of the same dinner, and the coastal train stops two minutes away.

The hotel is at 33 boulevard Édouard Baudoin in Juan-les-Pins, on the eastern side of the bay towards Cap d’Antibes.

Nice is 24 minutes by road and Antibes TGV six. The coastal line stops at Juan-les-Pins, two minutes from the door, which makes this one of the few venues on this coast that a guest can reach with no car at all.

Antibes is five minutes, Cannes 18 and Nice 32. Monaco is 48, so the eastern end of the Riviera is further than it looks from a map, and a guest list staying at Cap-Ferrat will be driving for an hour each way.

Sixty guests is the number to build to, and everything about the hotel points at it. The ceremony faces the sea up to 60 and turns sideways above it, the included marquee holds 70 with a dance floor, and the minimum spend is set high enough that a wedding of 60 pays for roughly 95 whatever it actually eats. We always design this venue at 40 to 60, because above 90 the marquee line arrives and the setting stops being the reason you came.

The second thing is the clock, and it is not negotiable.

The hotel sells a running order rather than a day: ceremony half past five to half past six, cocktail to half past seven, dinner to half past ten, dancing to half past twelve. A DJ may start at eleven, a live band is not allowed at any hour, and the sound is held to 79 decibels against the 90 to 95 most of this coast runs. Juan-les-Pins is built up to the waterline and the limit is monitored rather than assumed. A couple who wants a band and a three o’clock finish should not be looking at this hotel, and a couple who wants dinner on the sand with the Estérel going pink at nine will not find it anywhere else.

The third is the beach itself, and it is worth knowing before the first visit. Under the 1976 law the sand is public maritime domain, so the hotel can privatise its restaurant but cannot clear the shoreline, and there will be people walking past. In practice it reads as the Riviera rather than as an intrusion, but it is not a private cove and nobody should arrive expecting one.
