Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como
The resort sits at Blevio on the eastern shore, a few minutes north of Como, in a botanical park that runs down to the water.
It is made of several historic villas rather than one building, with the rooms spread between them and a floating pool on the lake. Villa del Lago at the far end and Villa della Rocca on the cliff above are kept as private residences and let whole.
L’ARIA, the restaurant in the park, holds one Michelin star under executive chef Massimiliano Blasone, awarded in 2019 and held since.
Mandarin Oriental Lake Como Wedding Venue
The resort hires its spaces one at a time, and a wedding is assembled from two or three of them rather than taking the property whole.
The Amphitheatre
Tiered and open to the lake, holding 120 standing or seated. It is the ceremony space and it is approved for a civil ceremony as well as a symbolic one.
The Greenhouse
Glass, a few metres from the water, facing the sunset. A hundred standing or 50 seated on round tables.
L'ARIA
The starred restaurant, in the park under the trees, taken to yourselves. Eighty guests in its existing set-up, standing or seated, and the pack puts a floor of 50 on hiring it.
Villa del Lago
A neoclassical residence at the end of the resort with its own garden, three bedrooms, a terrace with an open-air whirlpool and a private dock. A hundred and twenty standing or seated, and the only room here that takes a large dinner.
The suites
The Penthouse, Villa della Rocca on its cliff and the Panoramic Terrace Suite with its own pool are all quoted on request for smaller celebrations.
Mandarin Oriental Lake Como Wedding Cost
A Mandarin Oriental Lake Como wedding starts from €350,000, and for optimal results we recommend budgeting €500,000 all-in for 60 to 100 guests.
The spaces
- Amphitheatre: from just under €7,000, two hours of service, up to 120
- Greenhouse: from just under €15,000, 100 standing or 50 seated
- L’ARIA, yours alone: from just under €37,000, up to 80
- Villa del Lago: on request, with a minimum stay per night attached
All three figures include the 22% VAT.
Read those as a sequence rather than as alternatives. A full day here is usually the Amphitheatre for the ceremony, the Greenhouse or the garden for the aperitivo and then one of the larger rooms for dinner, so two or three of the fees apply.
The catering
In-house, from the resort’s own kitchen under the chef who holds the star. Menus are built rather than chosen from a list, which means the number arrives later in the process here than at a villa with a per-head rate.
The rooms
A separate line again, and the one that moves the total most. The seventy-three rooms and suites are where the saving sits: nobody is paying for coaches at midnight.
What sits outside it
Flowers and decoration, which are quoted separately and approved by the resort. Music and the SIAE fee. Photography, transfers by car or boat, and staff meals, which the resort will quote once numbers are known.

What the Pack Says Yes and No To
Two rules are worth knowing before anything is designed.
Real flames are forbidden inside the property, so candlelight indoors is an LED conversation rather than a wax one. Fireworks, on the other hand, are allowed and can be booked in advance, which is not true at most of the houses on this lake.
Suppliers have to be approved by the hotel, and the resort works with its own certified list. External hair and make-up artists are permitted with names and access times given in advance, and photography in the public areas needs the events team told first.
Music, and Eleven O'Clock
Dance music is permitted until eleven at night. Between eleven and midnight only soft lounge music is allowed, and that is the end of it.
This is the earliest stop on dancing of any venue we work with on Lake Como, and the reason is structural rather than municipal: there are guests asleep in the rooms above, and those guests are not at the wedding. A villa let to one family has nobody to disturb. A seventy-three-room resort does.
It is not a reason to rule the place out, but it is a reason to start dinner earlier than instinct suggests and to put the first dance before the coffee rather than after it.
Accommodation at Mandarin Oriental Lake Como
Twenty-four rooms and forty-nine suites, spread between the historic villas of the park, plus the two private residences.
That is the argument for this venue, and it is a strong one. Almost every Lake Como wedding we plan involves moving a guest list between a villa with six bedrooms and two or three hotels in different villages, with boats and cars at both ends of the night. Here the whole party sleeps where it danced.
Villa del Lago adds three bedrooms of its own with a private dock, and Villa della Rocca sits above on the cliff.
Mandarin Oriental Lake Como Location
The resort is on the Via Enrico Caronti at Blevio, on the eastern shore about five kilometres north of Como.
Como is eight minutes away, which is closer than anywhere else on this list.
Getting guests there
Milan Malpensa is 59 minutes by road, Linate an hour and five and Bergamo an hour and 22. Lugano across the Swiss border is 44 minutes.
Bellagio is 32 minutes by road and Varenna an hour and eleven, though the resort’s own dock makes the boat the better way to both.
Magic Day Insights
The rooms are the reason to choose this place.
Seventy-three of them, on the site, under one booking, is a thing almost no venue on Lake Como can offer, and it quietly removes the hardest part of planning a wedding here. No convoy from Bellagio at one in the morning, no guest in the wrong village, no boat timetable governing when dinner has to end. We always price the rooms into the first conversation rather than treating them as a separate exercise, because they change what the rest of the budget has to do.
The second thing is eleven o’clock, and it has to be said in the same breath. Dancing stops earlier here than anywhere else we work on this lake, and a couple who has been picturing a two-in-the-morning party will feel it. The honest trade is a short evening with everyone in one place against a long evening with everyone scattered, and different couples answer that differently.
The third is the Michelin star, which is hireable. L’ARIA holds one and the pack prices it, yours alone, from just under €37,000, which means a wedding dinner for eighty can be served in a starred dining room by the kitchen that earned it. That is a rare offer and it is cheaper, in context, than flying in a name.
Then there is the civil ceremony. The Amphitheatre is approved for one, so the legal marriage and the wedding happen in the same place on the same day, and nobody spends a morning at a town hall in a town they did not choose.

Common Questions
How much does a Mandarin Oriental Lake Como wedding cost?
A Mandarin Oriental Lake Como wedding starts from €350,000, and for optimal results we recommend budgeting €500,000 all-in. Spaces are priced one at a time and VAT applies to each: the Amphitheatre from just under €7,000 for two hours, the Greenhouse from just under €15,000 and the Michelin-starred L'ARIA from just under €37,000 taken to yourselves, with Villa del Lago quoted on request. Catering is the resort's own and the rooms are a separate line again.
How many guests can attend a Mandarin Oriental Lake Como wedding?
A hundred and twenty is the ceiling, in the Amphitheatre for a ceremony or at Villa del Lago for dinner. The rooms behind that are smaller: the Greenhouse seats 50 and L'ARIA 80 in its existing set-up, so a seated dinner above eighty has to go to the villa or under a structure. We would plan a wedding here at 60 to 100.
Can we marry legally at Mandarin Oriental Lake Como?
Yes. The Amphitheatre is approved for both symbolic and civil ceremonies, so a couple can complete the legal marriage on the property rather than at a town hall beforehand. It is one of the few places on this lake where that is true, and it is worth a day of anyone's itinerary.
What is the music curfew at Mandarin Oriental Lake Como?
Dance music stops at eleven, and between eleven and midnight only soft lounge music is permitted. That makes the curfew on dancing the earliest of any venue we work with on Lake Como, and it is a resort with sleeping guests rather than a house let to one party, which is why. We build the running order backwards from eleven.
How many people can sleep at Mandarin Oriental Lake Como?
Seventy-three rooms and suites, plus two private villas, which is enough to put an entire guest list to bed where the wedding is happening. That is rare on this lake, where most couples are moving people between three hotels and a villa, and it changes what the evening can be.
Which airport do guests fly into for Mandarin Oriental Lake Como?
Milan Malpensa, 59 minutes by road, which is the shortest airport transfer of any Lake Como venue we work with. Linate is an hour and five and Bergamo an hour and 22, and Lugano across the Swiss border is 44 minutes. Como itself is eight minutes away.
When is the best time of year for a Mandarin Oriental Lake Como wedding?
June or September. The resort faces west across the lake from the eastern shore, so the Greenhouse and the dock catch the whole of the sunset, and those two months give the longest evenings inside the season without the heat of August.
