Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, Bellagio
The hotel stands on the point at Bellagio, where Lake Como divides into its two arms, with the water on three sides of it and a park climbing behind.
It has been a hotel for about a hundred and fifty years, and it looks it in the way that matters: frescoed ceilings, bronze and crystal chandeliers, a pool terrace cut into the lawn above the water, and a tennis court in the trees.
Mistral, its dining room, holds one Michelin star under Ettore Bocchia.
Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni Wedding Venue
The hotel reserves its spaces individually, and a wedding uses two or three of them.
The Salone Reale
The large room, lit by bronze and crystal chandeliers, holding up to 220. It takes a dancefloor, and live bands and DJs play in it.
Sala Tivano
The small room, holding up to 70, for an intimate lunch or dinner. It permits no music.
The outdoor veranda
Off the Salone Reale, and where the cake is cut and the toast is raised.
The lake terrace
Weather permitting, the cocktails before dinner are served on a terrace over the water.
The park and the pool
Behind and below the hotel, with a tennis court in the trees and a pool terrace above the lake.
Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni Wedding Cost
A Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni wedding starts from €250,000, and for optimal results we recommend budgeting €350,000, for 80 to 150 guests.
There is no rate card
The hotel holds several spaces and each carries its own rental fee, quoted against the ceremony, the aperitif, the dinner and the reception a particular wedding actually wants. Conditions and prices are described as customisable, which is unusual honesty about a process most venues dress up as a tariff.
What is fixed is the floor.
The floor
- Minimum 50 guests
- Minimum spend €30,000, with the rooms excluded
- Menus from €215 per person, before any drinks
- Aperitif packages from €70 per person
At 150 guests the menu and the aperitif alone pass €40,000, which clears the minimum spend on food before a single space is hired. At the 50-guest floor they come to about €14,000, so a small wedding here has to find the rest of the €30,000 in the spaces and the extras rather than in the covers.
The rooms
Quoted separately and outside the minimum spend. The Royal Suites run between €2,000 and €3,000 a night at 2026 rates with VAT included.
What sits outside it
Flowers, production, lighting, music, photography and the transfers, as at any hotel. The ceremony, the aperitif, the dinner and the reception are costed as four decisions rather than one.

The Room That Allows No Music
This is the fact to carry away from the page.
Sala Tivano seats 70 and permits no music of any kind, because the hotel’s own trio plays live next door every night of the season. It is not a curfew and it is not a volume limit, it is a silence, and it applies for the whole evening.
The Salone Reale has no such restriction: it takes a dancefloor, live bands and DJs, and the dancing runs to midnight.
The consequence is counter-intuitive and it changes the shortlist. A wedding of sixty people that wants a band cannot use the small room, so it takes the 220-seat room and sits sixty people in it. A wedding of sixty that genuinely wants a quiet dinner gets the prettier option and a better room for the number. Which of those two you are deciding which room, and nobody finds that out from a brochure.
Dates, Not Money
The hotel confirms only a very limited number of events each year, and says plainly why: to protect the privacy and the comfort of the guests staying in it.
That makes the calendar the hard constraint here rather than the budget. A hotel with 85 rooms that takes a handful of weddings a season is not rationing by price, it is rationing by date, and the enquiry that arrives first with firm dates is the one that gets them.
We would open this conversation two years out and with alternative dates already agreed with the couple, which is not how we approach most of this lake.
Accommodation at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni
Eighty-five rooms and suites, which is enough to put most of a wedding to bed in the building where it happens. On this lake only the Mandarin Oriental and Grand Hotel Tremezzo can say the same.
The rooms are nineteenth-century in the way the rest of the hotel is: silk walls, painted ceilings, lake views framed in heavy curtains. The Royal Suites run between €2,000 and €3,000 a night, and the Imperial and Churchill suites sit above them.
The block is agreed with the enquiry rather than published, and it sits outside the €30,000 minimum spend, so the rooms are a separate negotiation rather than a way of reaching the floor.
Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni Location, Lake Como
The hotel is on the Via Tommaso Olivelli at Bellagio, on the promontory where the Como and Lecco arms separate.
Varenna is 19 minutes away across the water and Como 41 by road.
Getting guests there
Milan Linate is an hour and 17 minutes by road and Bergamo an hour and 25, while Milan Malpensa, which most people book for Lake Como, is the slowest at an hour and 34. Lugano across the Swiss border is an hour and seven.
Bellagio is the one place on the lake every ferry route touches, which makes it the easiest address to reach by water and the hardest to park at. Guests staying elsewhere on the lake should be planned onto boats rather than into cars.
Magic Day Insights
The room decides the music, not the other way round.
Sala Tivano is the prettier option at sixty guests and it allows no music at all, so a couple at that count is really choosing between a quiet dinner in the small room and a band in a room built for 220. We always put that choice in front of a couple at the start, because it is invisible in photographs and it is the whole shape of the evening.
The second thing is that the scarcity here is dates rather than money. The hotel confirms a handful of weddings a season to protect its own guests, so the enquiry that arrives two years out with flexible dates beats the one that arrives with a bigger budget and a fixed Saturday. We never approach this one with a single date.
The third is the minimum spend, which is lower than it looks and reads differently at each end of the guest list. Thirty thousand excluding rooms is cleared on food alone somewhere around a hundred guests. Below that it starts to bite, and a wedding of fifty has to find the balance in the spaces and the extras rather than in covers, which makes the small wedding here proportionally the expensive one.
Then there is the star. Mistral holds one and the kitchen that earned it cooks the wedding, which is a different proposition from a hotel banqueting operation and belongs in the conversation about why the per-head figure starts where it does.

Common Questions
How much does a Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni wedding cost?
A Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni wedding starts from €250,000, and for optimal results we recommend budgeting €350,000. The hotel publishes no rate card: each space is quoted on the enquiry, against a 50-guest floor and a minimum spend of €30,000 with the rooms excluded. Menus start at €215 a head before drinks and the aperitif carries a minimum of €70, so the food alone passes €40,000 at 150 guests.
How many guests can attend a Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni wedding?
Two hundred and twenty in the Salone Reale, which makes this the second largest room on Lake Como after Villa Erba. The other option, Sala Tivano, takes 70. The floor matters as much as the ceiling: the hotel confirms no wedding below 50 guests.
Can we marry legally at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni?
Yes. Official weddings can be celebrated on the property, which puts this among only three venues on our Lake Como list where a civil ceremony is possible where the party is. Everywhere else the ceremony is symbolic and the legal marriage happens at a town hall beforehand.
What is the music curfew at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni?
Midnight in the Salone Reale, which takes a dancefloor, live bands and DJs. The curfew in the other room is stranger and more absolute: Sala Tivano permits no music at all, because the hotel's own trio plays live next door every night of the season. A wedding of sixty that wants a band therefore still has to take the big room.
How many people can sleep at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni?
Eighty-five bedrooms and suites, which is enough to put most of a wedding to bed where it happens. The block is agreed with the enquiry rather than published, and the Royal Suites run between €2,000 and €3,000 a night, so the rooms are a separate conversation from the minimum spend, which excludes them.
Which airport do guests fly into for Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni?
Milan Linate, an hour and 17 minutes by road, and it is the airport to name on the invitation rather than Malpensa. Bellagio sits on the point between the two arms of the lake, so Bergamo at an hour and 25 also beats Malpensa at an hour and 34. Lugano is an hour and seven.
When is the best time of year for a Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni wedding?
June or September, and the question of which year matters more than the month. The hotel confirms only a very limited number of events each season, to protect the privacy of the guests staying in it, so the dates are the scarce thing here rather than the budget.
